when i started drawing just under 2 yrs ago, i had a motive, to change perception, to alter what should be there, what ought to be there, with what i wanted to convey. i had a motive, like drawing a dragon in a flower (i need to find this drawing). I started with simple pens and pencils and went on to oil pastel (here), colored pencil and charcoal, then oils. after a while i started to lose my 'motive' and just draw. ma mere is me trying to just draw a flower but my perceptions have permanently been altered to change everything. und ich liebe!

Thank you for faving 'Bear Island Lighthouse'. Acadia is one of my favorite places. This photo, from last summer, was one I went back to several times, finally satisfied after working it in HDR, then changing it to b/w. Previous efforts left the image lacking the definition I wanted. Through your comments, I am enjoying reading of your journey in art. Thad

Emily ~ I am pleased that you liked 'It's a Marshmallow World'. As so often happens, the day after this large snowfall was sunny and mild; the only thing to do with that is grab the camera and get outdoors. Exploring photo spots, while on an errand getting a small part for the snowblower, I toured some roads I had driven by many times. The stream ran beneath a stone bridge that offered this view, and the sun had not begun to melt the large mounds of snow on the rocks, making a playful image. Thank you for faving it. Enjoy your day! The "red eared" thing in the "Winter Garden" photo is a small garden statue (a cherub, maybe?). I didn't get close enough to determine what the red things on it's head were.

Wow, a discourse of John Rawls’s, “A Theory of Justice” and a preemption of Darwin’s adaptation theory. What is this world coming to ;) ?

I think the opportunity Darwin was talking about concerns evolutionary changes. Like leaving the pond and walking on earth. Species come, species go, if they cannot adapt to the need of leaving the pond and WALKING on land, they become extinct.

And, Rawls argument about the “Veil of Ignorance,” I think, dealt more with social conditions and the possibility of changing one’s core believes. The common example of the Veil of Ignorance is slavery. With most of the people living in the south, pre-Civil War, in favor of slavery, the question begs, if all of the people were collected (free and slaves), and re-assign the roles to everyone, would the people believing in slavery still believe in it if they would now become the slaves?

Thank you Emily for the very thoughtful comment on “Branching Out.” You made me go back and do some reading!

~~ John

Emily, thank you for your poem, and fav, on "Dreamworld." I guess, according to Wallace Stevens, life is what it is, nothing is good or bad beyond the reality before our eyes. It is what it is!

.blithe16 art is an art. And Dont think about others. You are not wasting you time. You are creating from nothing to something to something very special. An average person cannot do that.
